Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are primarily family pets and hunting companions. They love the water and the outdoors and are very hard workers. The Chesapeake has an affectionate protective nature and needs proper socialization with people and other animals. Chesapeake's can be very vocal when happy. Some will 'smile' by baring their front teeth in a grin however this is not a threat but a sign of joy or submissiveness. |
